Chai Spiced Hot Cocoa

Chai Spice Blend
3 tsp ground ginger
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp ground cardamom

Star Anise (to garnish)

Chai Hot Cocoa
4 cups Whole Milk (or any milk substitution)
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 1/2 tsp Chai spice blend
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
3 tbsp Runamok Cinnamon + Vanilla or Cardamom maple syrup (to taste)

Whipped Cream
1 cup heavy cream
2 tbsp maple syrup (Cinnamon Vanilla, Cardamom, or Sugarmaker’s Cut)
1 tsp vanilla extract



Make Chai spice blend by whisking together the spices. Store in an airtight jar. To make 4 cups of cocoa, combine ingredients in a medium saucepan and whisk until smooth. Simmer over medium heat for 3-5 minutes, whisking until all ingredients are well incorporated. To make whipped cream, combine all ingredients and whisk until stiff peaks form. Serve hot cocoa immediately in mugs with (or without) whipped cream, garnishing with star anise and chai spice blend.
