Warm Feta with Elderberry Infused Maple Syrup
Holidays are coming up and it is time to step up the culinary game. That doesn’t mean getting more complicated – finding the perfect trench coat to cover your kid for her headless zombie costume is already cluttering up the to-do list. I’m talking about going into the holiday season with something original and delectable that will see you from pumpkins to plum pudding.
This is an easy appetizer that is definitely original; baked feta cheese smothered in Elderberry Infused Maple Syrup. We have already determined that the Elderberry Infused is ideal to pair with almost any cheese. The honey and fig flavors bring out the finest nuances of cheese and provide the perfect, sweet compliment without overpowering. It also happens to have a crimson color that is very seasonal.
To make, choose a nice, salty, sharp feta (whole, not crumbled) with lots of oomph. Lightly oil a small baking dish and place the whole piece into the dish, in one layer. Preheat oven to 375. Drizzle a healthy pour of the Elderberry Infused over the feta so there is a small puddle around it. Put in the oven for about ten minutes or until it just starts to brown on top. Remove from the oven and serve hot with crackers, sliced baguette or pita.
