This is a drink brought to us by our friend, Tara Snyder, at @Bearnecessities_. It combines all of the best warming flavors of the colder months: ginger, honey, sage, and whiskey. A traditional whiskey sour uses egg white but we find this is great without it, too.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz rye whiskey or bourbon

  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice

  • 1 oz honey simple syrup*

  • 1” slice of fresh ginger

  • Egg white (optional)

  • Runamok Orange Bitters

  • 4 Fresh sage leaves

  • ice

*Honey Simple Syrup
  • 1 oz Runamok Beekeeper’s Cut, Lemon Verbena, or Orange Blossom Honey

  • 1 oz boiling water

Instructions

  • 1 First make the honey syrup by combining the honey and water. Stir until dissolved and let cool.
  • 2 Combine whiskey, lemon juice, honey syrup, ginger, a few shakes of bitters, and 2 sage leaves in a cocktail shaker. Muddle the ginger and sage for 10 seconds.
  • 3 Add ice and egg white (optional), cover and shake well for 30 seconds.
  • 4 Strain the liquid into a coupe glass and garnish with remaining sage leaves.
