When dreaming up a cocktail that uses our Festivus Infused Maple Syrup (or Holiday Spice), I wanted to highlight the warm spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and clove. After some research, I discovered that a typical Hot Buttered Rum uses all of those spices plus some sugar. So, as Kramer would say, Giddayup. The addition of apple cider only puts it over the top into warm cocktail Nirvana.

Since this drink is warm and sweet, I’ve named it Shmoopie after Jerry’s term of affection for his girlfriend. Though his friends found the name grating, with this cocktail you will find Serenity Now.




  • 1 Put the syrup, water, butter, and cider in a small pot. 
  • 2 Turn on stove to medium heat and let it heat until it just starts to simmer.Stir to make sure it is blended. 
  • 3 Remove from the heat and add the rum. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and serve.
